AI + Podcasting = Magic (Seriously!)

6 minute read - Time for another cuppa?
When you launch your podcast, you're probably going to wish that you had an extra set of hands (and a super-powered brain) to help you to create your podcast.
Well, meet your new AI assistants!
This week, I’m going to share with you how language learning models (LLM’s) can revolutionise your podcasting workflow – specifically when it comes to writing all the promotional copy you need for your podcast, like your podcast description, shownotes, episode titles and blog posts.
At the meetup, Steph shared some incredible insights into how she uses AI to create all the marketing copy for her podcasts, and I’m dead excited to pass on her wisdom to you.
If you have trepidations about using AI, this is a great and simple place to start.
But first, what exactly are these language learning models?
Think of them as super-powered writing assistants that can understand and generate human-like text. The Debbie McGee to your Paul Daniels if you will.
(To my dear non-UK readers, or those under 30, you might have to Google that cultural reference - thank me later🪄)
Some of the leading LLM’s are:
ChatGPT: known for its conversational abilities and creative writing. Steph uses this LLM, she’s even written press releases for her podcast with it (a task she found it surprisingly good at!).
Gemini (Google): has a massive context window, meaning it can analyse and understand large amounts of information at once. This makes it ideal for summarising your episodes, generating shownotes, and giving you deep insights into your content. I use Gemini almost everyday, from helping me to craft social media posts, to sense checking this newsletter!
Claude: has reasoning and analytical abilities. You can use it to research topics for your podcast, analyse listener feedback, or even help you with more complex tasks like writing press releases or funding bids.
So how do you begin?
It All Starts With a Transcript
To unlock the power of these AI tools, you need a transcript of an episode.
Your AI assistant needs this raw material to then create podcast copy gold.
This is where things get interesting.
You're essentially using AI to create content based on your own existing content.
You're not asking it to conjure something new out of thin air; instead, you're giving it a foundation (your brilliant podcast episode!) and letting it work its magic to enhance and repurpose your own brilliant work.
Here's how AI can help you (inspired by Steph's insights)
Compelling show notes: Use AI to "massage" your show notes, as Steph puts it. You could even ask AI to "make a list of the top three takeaways" to include too.
Catchy episode titles: Ask it to generate a list of potential episode titles. You can even specify parameters, like keeping the title under five words to get the perfect fit or including the guest’s name (if you have one).
Engaging social media posts: Don't just share a link to your episode – use your new best pal AI to craft compelling social media posts that highlight key moments, brilliant quotes or questions based around your episode’s theme.
Repurpose your content: You can transform your transcript into blog posts, press releases and articles.
You can even ask AI to help you to craft a brilliant podcast description!
Just remember Steph's incredibly wise words,
"AI your assistant, not your worker!"
Use these AI tools to enhance your creativity and streamline your workflow, but remember to always bring your own critical thinking and personal touch - because after all podcasting is allll about authenticity.

Steph's got a brill blog series and YouTube channel called "Chatty and Me" where she dives into all things AI and podcasting. Check it out here.

4 minute read - roughly the length of time we’ve had actual sunshine over the last few months. The start of your podcast is like your front garden. If someone rocks up and there’s an old rusty washing machine in the privet, weeds up to their knees, and a crisp packet wafting in the wind… they’re not going to think,“Ooh, I’ll knock on and see if they’re in for a brew.” (I’m not saying your future podcast will be a grotty front garden. It’s an analogy. Before you write in😂) Your intro does a...
5 minute read - about the length of an intro that should have been 90 seconds A client once said to me, “We don’t want to structure our podcast. We don’t want it to sound rigid.” I sorta got that. No one starts a podcast because they fancy recreating a stiff board meeting. You want it to feel natural and human. Like a proper conversation we have all the time. But what I'm really talking about isn’t rigidity. It’s an invisible framework. And this reminded me of something from Christmas. My...
7 minute read - Brew and a Biscuit time So, here’s some of the reasons folk have come to me wanting to start a podcast. “I want to spread the word about what we’re doing.”“We need to raise awareness of our project.”“We want to share the outcomes of our recent campaign.”“The CEO wants a weekly stage to share their latest thinking.”“I want my podcast to boost my personal brand and bring in customers.” Sound familiar? And you know what, actually none of those are wrong. They’re strategic,...
